Kiersten Amos presents Inclusive Workplace Tips
July 29, 2016
PEI associate, Kiersten Amos, demonstrated McInnes Cooper’s commitment to creating an inclusive workplace environment in her presentation to the business community during PEI Pride week. Kiersten educated employers, managers and human resources specialists that while it may not be intended, some polices may have discriminatory consequences if they are not carefully worded. Reviewing your policies, having management visibly support an inclusive workplace, and educating all employees, will help foster an inclusive workplace culture. Summarized by CBC News Prince Edward Island are the five tips for building an inclusive workplace that employers should be aware of, originally published by Ryan Baxter in 5 Ways Employers Can Support Transgender Employees in the Workplace.
McInnes Cooper is proud to be a supporter of Pride, celebrating the best of the LGBTQ+ community and culture throughout the region. If you have questions regarding developing or implementing such policies in your workplace, contact Kiersten, Ryan or another member of our labour and employment practice.
