HALIFAX, April 1, 2024 – McInnes Cooper is pleased to announce that Peter Claman, KC has joined the firm as Counsel.
Peter joins the firm’s commercial real estate group. Having acted as a sole practitioner at Claman Law for over 30 years, Peter has represented owners, purchasers, developers and lenders in some of the largest commercial real estate transactions in Atlantic Canada’s history, including the purchase of Mic Mac Mall and the development of the Nova Centre.
His decision to join the firm was motivated by McInnes Cooper’s reputation for a high caliber of client service and commitment to practice innovation, as well as the opportunity to leverage additional legal personnel with deep knowledge and experience.
When asked about the transition, Peter commented, “It gives me great personal comfort to know that my longstanding clients and their files will continue to be serviced by one of Atlantic Canada’s top law firms in the manner to which they have become accustomed. In addition, they will have access to a wide range of knowledge that is not available in a small firm.”
The hire emphasizes the firm’s objective to engage the best talent and expand service offerings in high growth areas in the Atlantic region.
“Peter is a highly respected lawyer with an impressive background in commercial real estate. This move is mutually beneficial, reinforcing our shared commitment to providing excellent service to our clients.” says Kevin Kiley, McInnes Cooper’s Managing Partner. “We’re thrilled to have Peter join our team.”
Also joining the firm is Natalie Shaffner, Peter’s long-time Paralegal and administrator for all operations, who will take on a paraprofessional role at McInnes Cooper. Natalie is a skilled administrator and paralegal and has supported Peter’s practice for over 30 years. We look forward to welcoming her strong skillset in client relations and legal operations to McInnes Cooper.
Peter and Natalie will support McInnes Cooper’s pursuit of excellence and enhance value for clients within and outside Atlantic Canada.
