About Tom

Tom has a broad litigation practice focusing on securities litigation, commercial and insurance litigation, and commercial planning and development matters. He has represented clients before courts and tribunals in Prince Edward Island. Tom is a member of our Financial Services and Insurance client sector units and is a member of our Litigation team in Prince Edward Island.

Tom provides advice and representation to businesses of all sizes in a variety of matters including disputes regarding commercial contracts, partnership/joint venture disputes and shareholder issues.  He acts for banks, leasing companies and other financial institutions in matters involving the enforcement of commercial claims. Tom regularly advises start-ups and small businesses with respect to incorporation, shareholder and commercial agreements and enforcement matters.

Tom advises full service investment dealers, investment advisors and other market participants in regulatory and securities industry matters.  He defends stock brokers, investment advisors and dealers against claims from individual clients. Tom’s advice and representation includes matters before provincial securities commissions and the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada.

Tom is a practicing member of the law society of Prince Edward Island, and is a member of the Canadian Bar Association. He serves as the chair of our Charlottetown Community Social Responsibility Committee, and on our regional Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee. He volunteers at all levels for non-profit and community groups in Charlottetown and Prince Edward Island, and currently serves as the Vice-President of the Humane Society of Prince Edward Island.
