About Karen

Karen is an associate in our St. John’s office with a practice focused in the areas of labour and employment law. She provides private and public sector employers with practical, business-oriented advice on labour, employment, privacy and human rights matters.

Karen’s background working at Western Canada’s largest workplace law firm in Vancouver has given her a strong foundation for her labour and employment practice. She has experience with a variety of workplace issues including hiring and termination, discipline, grievance arbitration, human rights complaints, privacy inquiries, and workplace policy development. She has also conducted bullying and harassment investigations.

Karen received a Bachelor of Commerce (Co-operative) (Honours) degree from Memorial University, where she was awarded the University Medal for Academic Excellence for graduating at the top of her class. She completed her Juris Doctor at the University of British Columbia in 2017. Among many achievements, she received the Hugh Ladner Memorial Prize in Labour Relations award and the Jack T. Edwards Memorial Award in Law for her work supporting pro-bono clients in the Business Law Clinic. She was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2018 and the Newfoundland bar in 2022.
