Jill’s practice is primarily focused on insurance and commercial litigation, with a growing construction litigation practice. She has a range of litigation experience, including accident and personal injury claims, long term disability claims, injunctions, and shareholders disputes. Jill has represented clients at the Social Security Tribunal of Canada, NS Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal.
Jill is also involved in sports and entertainment law, with experience in criteria and policy review and review of disputes. With a background as a student athlete, Jill brings her dedication and work ethic to the practice of law. In 2004, she competed on the sprint kayak team in the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. She raced in the k-4 500m placing 8th overall. She is a Pan American Games Gold Medalist and competed on the Canadian National Team for a total of eleven years.
Jill is a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society and the Canadian Bar Association.
A strong advocate for sport, Jill is a member of the Board of Directors for reachAbility, an ambassador for Fast and Female and a Mission Staff Member for Team Nova Scotia – 2019 Winter Canada Games. She is also a High Performance Committee Member with Canoe Kayak Canada, where she volunteers her legal knowledge on various issues. Jill enjoys running, paddling, and hiking with her dogs.
