Ian works out of the firm’s Halifax office and maintains a broad general litigation practice, with a focus on insurance and commercial litigation. He regularly acts as lead counsel for institutional clients and advises on labour and employment, real estate, administrative law, corporate and commercial matters and estate planning.
Ian has represented clients before administrative tribunals and at all levels of court in Nova Scotia, including Nova Scotia’s Provincial Court, Supreme Court and Court of Appeal. He prides himself on responsive, efficient and effective legal work.
In addition to his practice, Ian serves on the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia’s Bench and Bar Liaison Committee. Ian has taught legal courses at Cape Breton University and currently lectures at Dalhousie University Schulich School of Law. Ian also regularly presents at professional development and community seminars on topics which include insurance and employment law.
Ian is an avid runner and has participated in races across Atlantic Canada, including the Prince Edward Island Marathon and the Cabot Trail Relay Race.
