David is a Partner in the firm’s Halifax office and a Best Lawyers™-ranked practitioner in M&A and corporate law. With nearly two decades of experience spanning Bay Street and Atlantic Canada, he leads complex, multi-faceted transactions for clients ranging from venture-backed startups to major established enterprises.

David has extensive expertise in mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and securities, and corporate governance. He has guided clients through all stages of business development, from entity formation and governance structuring through growth financing, acquisitions, and strategic exits. His practice also encompasses intellectual property, information technology, real estate, sports and entertainment and shareholder disputes.

His transaction experience includes negotiating and structuring asset and share purchase agreements, debt and equity financing arrangements, joint venture and strategic partnership arrangements, IP licensing and royalty arrangements and IT outsourcing agreements. 

A member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society, the Law Society of Ontario, and the Canadian Bar Association, David taught corporate transactions at Dalhousie University’s Schulich School of Law for seven years (2016-2023), where he also earned his law degree. He was a four-year varsity baseball athlete at the University of British Columbia.
