About Catherine

Catherine maintains a civil litigation practice, with a focus on insurance defence. She also has experience in medical malpractice, defamation, contractual disputes, construction disputes, trust and estate litigation, and estate planning. As a litigator, Catherine has a passion for combining substantive legal analysis with practical strategic analysis to provide sound, carefully considered advice to our clients throughout the litigation process.

Catherine is extremely proud to bring a background in social work to practice, providing her with a unique and compassionate perspective on understanding problems and building solutions. In addition to her social work background, Catherine brings to practice strong legal research and writing skills. Catherine takes great pride in point-first, evidence-based legal research and writing. She has honed her research and writing skills as a Co-Editor-in-Chief of the University of New Brunswick Law Journal and as a Judicial Intern to the Honourable Chief Justice J.C. Marc Richard of the New Brunswick Court of Appeal.

A former athlete, Catherine has spent extensive time at the rink and on the soccer field, including time in Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador’s High Performance Program and Soccer Canada’s National Team Training Program. She also has professional experience in the sports industry, having worked for the AHL’s St. John’s IceCaps. Using this combination of personal and professional experience, Catherine is happy to advise amateur and professional sport organizations in governance reviews, policy development and analysis, risk management and mitigation, and general strategy.

An active member in the firm and her community, Catherine sits on firm’s Diversity Equity and Inclusion Working Group and is on the Board of Directors of QuadrangleNL. When she’s not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her nieces, staying active, and cheering on her favourite sports teams.
