Lawyer
Brad Budden is a lawyer in our St. John’s office with a practice spanning corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, insolvency and restructuring, intellectual property, and commercial and residential real estate. He represents public and private companies in the energy and natural resources, engineering, medical, and technology industries on commercial, debt, and equity transactions. He provides strategic advice on definitive purchase and sale agreements, establishes business structures, conducts due diligence, and drafts ancillary documents to finalize the transactions in a timely and cost efficient manner.
Within the energy and natural resources sector, Brad has specific experience representing clients on domestic and cross-border bond offerings, including the issuance of first mortgage sinking fund bonds and senior secured notes, and on corporate reorganizations, amendments to financing and royalty agreements, incorporating special purpose vehicles, facilitating international transfer of assets, and providing advice on substantial asset backed lending programs.
Brad also has experience representing distressed companies, creditors, designated trustees, and court appointed monitors through proceedings under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act and the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, as well as through out-of-court restructurings, work-outs, refinancings, and other distressed transactions.
During his undergraduate degree, Brad was the co-chair of the Memorial University chapters of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, and the Royal Institute of Naval Architects.
In law school, Brad was highly involved with the organization of intermural sports and served as co-chair of the Dalhousie contingent at the annual Law Games. Brad played junior and senior hockey for the entirety of his undergraduate degree and throughout law school.
