The Centre for Entrepreneurship Education and Development (CEED) and McInnes Cooper are taking action to reduce the financial burden for entrepreneurs by providing access to pro bono legal advice.
Earlier today, CEED and McInnes Cooper announced a partnership developed to help reduce barriers to legal services by providing eligible CEED clients with access to legal counsel from one of the top business law firms in Canada. The agreement includes legal advice on business law including matters of incorporation, partnership agreements, commercial lease reviews, intellectual property cases, and other areas agreed upon as they arise.
“At CEED, we believe in helping startups, and through innovative partnerships such as this one with McInnes Cooper, we are taking the right steps to help businesses see success in Nova Scotia” said Laurie Cameron, president and CEO, CEED.
The referral process for eligible pro bono clients will be managed by CEED, with McInnes Cooper providing onsite legal support on a monthly basis to clients indentified through several of CEED’s flagship programs.
“This is a welcome addition to our Pro Bono program,” said Hugh Wright, Partner, McInnes Cooper. “We look forward to serving qualified CEED clients and supporting their contributions to our community.”
These services will be available to a range of CEED clients including Self Employment Benefits Program participants, loans clients, and clients participating in CEED’s youth programs.
