McInnes Cooper is saddened about the devastation by raging forest fires in and around Fort McMurray, Alberta. Our hearts go out to those who are affected by this terrible fire – families, workers, companies, and the several communities which have been decimated. We wish to acknowledge and extend our heartfelt thanks for the hard work being done by many organizations and individuals to help those affected by the devastation. There are currently approximately 90,000 people from Fort McMurray and the surrounding communities and first nation who have been displaced. Finding them safe shelter, clothing, food and personal effects will take efforts and require resources unprecedented in our history. According to the Canadian Red Cross, Canadians from all walks of life and from all regions of the country are coming forward with financial donations to assist the fire victims in need. The generosity currently being demonstrated is on par with that for which Canadians are so well known.
McInnes Cooper will be making a donation to the Canadian Red Cross with the support and guidance of McInnes Cooper Partner, Gavin Giles, Q.C., the Canadian Red Cross National Vice-Chair.
