In a recent issue of Canadian Lawyer, Halifax was highlighted in the magazine’s City Report. In an article which focuses on the small town feel of law firms in Halifax and how collegiality is evident throughout the profession, but competition for work is still fierce, partner Melanie Comstock is quoted as saying “No matter what area you’re practicing in,” she notes, “you’re seeing the same group of lawyers. You really develop a rapport.”
The article goes on to speak about how the firm has broadened its focus beyond the Atlantic Region:
“The client base has changed over 20 years,” says Comstock. “The focus used to be local. We were a regional firm and that is as broad as it got. Our attention now is worldwide. We think more broadly and have clients internationally.”
