Nova Scotia-based Clearwater Seafoods received the Mid Market Deal Award at the Canadian Dealmakers Awards gala on March 10th at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto. Clearwater was awarded for its purchase of MacDuff Shellfish Group, valued at roughly $195- Million. The Canadian Dealmakers Awards are presented as a joint effort from Deloitte, The Globe and Mail, Thomson Reuters (Financial & Risk) and Lexpert to recognize deals that shape business in Canada. MacDuff Shellfish is the UK’s largest producer of wild shellfish with Europe’s largest scallop fishing fleet at 14 vessels and production plants in Mintlaw and Stornoway, Scotland. Outlined in the deal, MacDuff will retain its name, but operate as a subsidiary of Clearwater. The deal will further expand Clearwater in international markets with its acquisition of European premium wild and sustainable harvested seafood. Congratulations Clearwater!
