Profile

John is a Partner in our St. John’s office whose practice is primarily focused on the construction industry. In addition, his practice includes corporate and commercial litigation and insurance defence. He is a member of McInnes Cooper’s Business Dispute Resolution and Construction Industry Groups. He represents consulting engineers, architects, owners and contractors on contract matters concerning civil construction, municipal works, offshore projects, commercial and residential developments, and equipment and technology acquisitions and installations. John was counsel on the longest construction litigation case in the Supreme Court of Newfoundland which lasted over 200 days. His insurance defence practice includes two shareholder dispute claims and actions against directors and officers. He was instructing counsel in a major shareholder dispute which was litigated up to the House of Lords. He is also the insurer appointed counsel to a number of professional groups and has acted on a number of professional disciplinary matters. John also has an interest in intellectual property matters and acts as legal counsel on several film and television production.
