Sara is an Associate at our Halifax office. Sara’s practice focuses on the regulatory aspects of the Energy and Natural Resources industry, including the areas of renewable energy, electricity, utilities, offshore oil and gas, maritime law, and environmental law. Sara also draws upon her experience in Civil Litigation and Insurance Defence in assisting her clients. Sara holds a Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies and Political Science from St. Francis Xavier University (2009) and a Juris Doctor from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University (2012). While attending law school, Sara was the recipient of several awards, including most notably the Schulich Scholarship in Law, the Frank Covert Memorial Scholarship, and the Clifford Rae Achievement Award. Sara also received the Hon. Richard B. Hanson Prize in Constitutional Law and the William D. Outhit Prize in Administrative Law. In her third year at law school, Sara was a co-winner of the Smith Shield Moot Competition and was awarded the A.S. Pattillo Prize for Advocacy.
Sara co-teaches the Energy Law course at the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University. Sara is a volunteer Board Member of the Halifax Refugee Clinic where she is also volunteer counsel representing refugee claimants before the Immigration and Refugee Board. Sara is a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society and the Canadian Bar Association.
