About Lucia

Lucia’s practice is focused on regulatory work, with an emphasis on the areas of energy, environment, natural resources, construction, and aboriginal law. She has experience assisting clients as they navigate regulatory requirements in energy industries, engage in consultations and negotiations with First Nations in Atlantic Canada, and defend or bring claims through dispute-resolution processes. She has also provided advice on the offshore wind regime in Nova Scotia, particularly in respect of the Impact Assessment Act and Canadian Energy Regulator Act. Lucia has appeared on behalf of clients in forums ranging from the Court of King’s Bench in New Brunswick to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board to the Federal Court of Appeal.

In her recent role as Senior Corporate Strategist with the policy division of the Government of Nova Scotia’s Department of Natural Resources and Renewables, Lucia provided policy support on departmental submissions, particularly for amendments to energy legislation and funding agreements for departmental work. Her work spanned clean energy, offshore wind, tidal and mining files.

Outside of work, Lucia continues to sing and play violin, craft, rock-climb and travel both the Atlantic Region and internationally. She is also learning how to wind-surf.
