Benjamin A. Kranc, pronounced “Krantz”, is a Canadian corporate immigration lawyer with more than three decades of experience helping businesses, executives, key personnel and skilled workers secure the status they need to work and reside in Canada. Before joining McInnes Cooper, he was the principal of Kranc Associates, a Toronto-based corporate immigration law firm.  

Ben advises Canadian and multinational corporations, global mobility and relocation companies, and Canadian, U.S. and other international legal counsel on corporate and business immigration matters. His work supports organizations ranging from boutique businesses to Fortune 500 corporations across a wide range of sectors, including energy, eco-technology, manufacturing, financial services, pharmaceuticals, technology, aerospace and automotive. 

Ben provides practical, strategic advice on temporary and permanent immigration pathways, including work permits, intra-company transfers, applications under CUSMA and other free trade agreements, labour market impact assessments, Express Entry, Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker applications and Provincial Nominee Programs. He brings practical, strategic guidance to complex immigration matters, combining deep legal knowledge with an understanding of the business and operational issues facing employers managing international talent. Ben has also served as a Director of Emigra Group, now Newland Chase, one of the world’s largest corporate immigration service providers, giving him insight into both the legal considerations and business issues that arise in corporate immigration matters. 

Ben is active in the immigration field as an author, educator and speaker. He is the author of North American Relocation Law published by Thomson Reuters and other immigration titles, and has contributed to professional periodicals including The Law Times, Immigration and Citizenship Bulletin and International Human Resources Update. 

He has served as a lecturer in the University of British Columbia immigration law program and is a member of the Canadian Bar Association – Citizenship and Immigration Section. He has spoken for organizations including the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Employee Relocation Council, the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the Human Resources Professionals Association. 

Ben has been recognized by Lexology, formerly Who’s Who Legal, as a thought leader and foremost practitioner in corporate immigration law, and has received Martindale-Hubbell’s highest peer rating of AV Preeminent®.
