Maddy’s practice is focused in the areas of labour & employment law. She provides clients with strategic advice in all areas of employment law, including legislative compliance, discipline and termination, contract and policy drafting, human rights, and occupational health & safety. She also provides labour law advice to unionized employers, including advice on the proper interpretation and application of collective agreements.
In addition to her law degree, Maddy has both undergraduate and master-level education in the areas of labour & employment relations.
Before joining McInnes Cooper, Maddy clerked for the justices of the Nova Scotia Supreme Court. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Solid Grounds Legal Clinic, a Halifax-based legal clinic that provides pro-bono assistance to victims of domestic violence. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of New Grocery Movement, a non-profit organization that seeks to increase access to just & sustainable food sources.
Maddy is a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society and the Canadian Bar Association.
