MentorCamp Final on Monday Sept 24th at Innovacorp Enterprise Center

September 21, 2012
HALIFAX, NS (September 21, 2012) –
Atlantic Canada’s MentorCamp 2012 Final – a one-day international mentoring event – will
be held on September 24, 2012, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at The Innovacorp
Enterprise Centre (Life Sciences Research Institute), 1344 Summer Street, Halifax.
Preliminary MentorCamp events have been held throughout the year in different cities across the region. The nine best companies, as selected by highly-regarded regional mentors including Gerry Pond and Jevon MacDonald, are being provided the opportunity to be mentored by a more diverse group, including both regional and global business leaders, venture capitalists and technology experts – all forming an unprecedented group of more than 40 highly talented globally-recognized mentors.
“The idea of holding MentorCamp events in Atlantic Canada is largely inspired by 4Front Atlantic,” says Permjot Valia, CEO of MentorCamp, referring to the movement that encourages regional collaboration and global connectivity to build the region’s business sector. Several mentors are coming from outside the region, and many will be visiting Canada for the first time. Most will be spending several days in Halifax for other aspects of Atlantic Innovation Week, which runs from September 23 – 27, 2012.
“This is a unique, first-time opportunity for the nine finalist companies to receive expert,
international mentoring and to develop potentially lucrative global connections,” says Valia. The companies will deliver their presentations, then participate in 30-minute mentoring sessions for the balance of the day. At the conclusion, two companies may be offered $25,000 each as an investment from
MentorCamp.
Members of the media are invited to attend and report on all aspects of the morning presentations. During mentoring sessions, however, due to the confidential nature of business strategies being discussed, reporters are asked to obtain permission from company owners prior to publication.
