McInnes Cooper is proud to take part in the movement to raise awareness, research dollars, and strike out ALS. We have accepted the challenge and challenge our neighbouring local businesses across the Atlantic Provinces to join together and accept the challenge. To donate to ALS Canada, visit the ALS Website.

What is ALS
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease,” is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. People living with the disease become progressively paralyzed due to degeneration of the upper and lower motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord. 80% of people with ALS die within two to five years of diagnosis – unable to breathe or swallow. ALS has no known cure or effective treatment yet. For every person diagnosed with ALS, a person living with ALS dies. Approximately 2,500 – 3,000 Canadians currently live with this fatal disease.
