Congratulations Tony Tam and Daren Baxter on new NS QC Designations

McInnes Cooper is pleased to announce the appointment of Daren Baxter and Tony Tam as
Queen’s Counsel.
The QC designation is awarded annually by the Attorney General on the recommendation of an independent advisory committee to a select group of Nova Scotia lawyers and represents the ultimate recognition of ability, reputation and commitment to the legal profession.
Daren is a Partner in McInnes Cooper’s Halifax office whose law practice is focused on tax and estate planning. He is recognized in Best Lawyers in Canada in the area of Tax Law, and was recently an advisor on trust law to the Law Reform Commission of Nova Scotia. He is a member of the McInnes Cooper board of directors, and has served as the Vice Chair of the Nova Scotia Securities Commission, is a former member of the Joint Forum of Financial Market Regulators and as a representative of the Canadian Securities Administrators.
Tony is a Partner in our Halifax office who practices commercial real estate and commercial transactions, and bankruptcy and insolvency law. He represents private corporations, pension funds and lending institutions, in connection with the acquisition and financing of commercial real estate, including hotels, office complexes, shopping centres, discount/wholesale and retail outlets and apartment complexes. He is general counsel to private corporations with expertise in negotiating and drafting of contracts, shareholder agreements and purchase and sale agreements of business and share capital. Tony has also been listed for the past four years in Best Lawyers in Canada in the category of Insolvency and Financial Restructuring.
