Bruce Russell, QC, Appointed Judge of the Tax Court of Canada

Halifax partner, Bruce Russell, QC, has been appointed a judge of the Tax Court of Canada, to replace Mr. Justice C.J. Miller, effective October 20, 2016.
For the past 17 years, Bruce represented taxpayers against Canada Revenue Agency, predominantly income tax and HST/GST, at all administrative and court levels. He has been successful lead counsel in numerous Tax Court and Federal Court cases, including Canada’s first income tax GAAR case, and also in the Supreme Court of Canada. Prior to joining the firm, he was a tax litigator with federal Department of Justice.
