Our Family Law team is seeking a Family Law Paralegal to join our St. John’s, Newfoundland Office or our Halifax, Nova Scotia Office. Responsible for file maintenance and document drafting, the incumbent will prepare various court documents and orders, communicate with clients, opposing parties, witnesses and court personnel. They will be required to draft agreements, affidavits and statements of financial and property information. The Family Law paralegal will be held accountable for organizing and managing file material and documents, monitoring expiry dates, filing deadlines and limitation periods. They will be responsible for liaising with clients and the court to obtain information for the drafting and preparation of documents.
The ideal candidate will have a Paralegal diploma/degree or other related education, with experience in a legal support role. They must excel in a demanding, high-pace environment, be highly detail-oriented, and be flexible to changing priorities. The successful candidate will have exceptional technology skills, with proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft Office and legal billing systems. As the liaison between the Firm and clients, the incumbent will have exceptional communication skills, a special focus on client service and the highest degree of professionalism and confidentiality. Working in a team environment, the successful candidate will be strong team player and have high personal integrity. Experience in a family law practice will be considered an asset.
