McInnes Cooper is seeking a motivated and proactive Legal Support Clerk to join our Legal Services team in our St. John’s Office for a 1 year term. This position is the entry point to our legal services team and will provide the incumbent with the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience required for a career as a legal assistant or paralegal. Legal Support Clerks are responsible for document and correspondence preparation, file administration, time entry, transcriptions, and assisting with special projects. In addition to these day-to-day tasks, they liaise with clients while assisting with reception coverage and meeting room preparation including audio-visual equipment setup as required.
The successful candidate will be an upcoming or recent graduate of a Legal Assistant Diploma or related education or be looking to transition into a career in legal support. They must excel in a demanding, high-pace environment, be highly detail-oriented, and be flexible to changing priorities. The successful candidate will have exceptional technology skills, with proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft Office and legal billing systems. The incumbent will have exceptional communication skills, a special focus on client service and the highest degree of professionalism. Working in a team environment, the successful candidate will be strong team player and have high personal integrity. Previous experience in an administrative role would be considered an asset.
