On July 18, 2017, Canada’s Minister of Finance released proposed changes to the Income Tax Act (Canada) that target three key areas the government perceives as abusive: “Income sprinkling”, Capital Gains Stripping and Tax Deferral. The federal government is soliciting comments on the proposed changes and the proposed legislation is subject to change until the consultation phase closes on October 2, 2017.
