Profile

Matt is a Partner in our Halifax office whose practice focuses on corporate and business law as well as energy and natural resource law. He has worked on various aspects of power and cogeneration projects, energy trading transactions, offshore oil and gas developments and mining projects. His practice also includes general corporate and commercial matters. Matt returned to McInnes Cooper in 2009 after working in the Toronto office of a major national law firm. Prior to that, he was based in our St. John’s office.

 

Matt stays current on emerging issues in the renewable electricity sector by regularly attending industry conferences and seminars. Recently, he completed a course entitled “Power Systems for Non-Engineers”, given by EUCI in Toronto.

 

Matt is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and has previously practiced as a member of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Law Society of Upper Canada. He was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in March of 2009. While at law school, he was awarded the Canadian Petroleum Law Foundation Prize for the highest mark in Oil and Gas Law.
