Profile

Mathieu is a Partner in our Moncton office with a corporate and business practice. He provides legal advice to a broad range of clients from large financial institutions and public companies to local entrepreneurs and start-ups on a variety of corporate and commercial law matters including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, share and asset sales, franchise relationships, amalgamations, corporate reorganizations, financings and compliance with securities legislation.

 

Mathieu has acted on behalf of lenders and borrowers in a variety of secured financing transactions and has experience in drafting and reviewing a wide range of financing and security documentation. Mathieu represents both secured and unsecured creditors in matters involving personal property security legislation and in bankruptcy and insolvency matter including receiverships, restructurings, workouts and asset recovery matters. He also represents companies seeking bankruptcy protection.

 

Mathieu teaches a course on securities regulation at the Faculty of Law at the Université de Moncton. He received his law degree from the University of Ottawa and he summered, articled and practiced in the Corporate and Securities group of a large national law firm in Toronto, Ontario. He also spent time on secondment to the Ontario Securities Commission. Mathieu is fluently bilingual and is able to provide legal services in both English and French.
