Kevin is a Partner in our Charlottetown office with a broad litigation practice focusing on commercial, banking and construction litigation and bankruptcy and insolvency matters.  He regularly represents clients before all levels of court in Prince Edward Island and is recognized in The Best Lawyers in Canada 2013 for his work in corporate and commercial litigation and is recognized as a leading practitioner in the areas of banking and construction law in Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory 2013.

 

Kevin provides advice and representation to businesses of all sizes in a variety of matters including disputes regarding commercial contracts; partnership/joint venture disputes and shareholder issues.  He regularly acts for banks, credit unions, leasing companies and other financial institutions in matters involving the enforcement of commercial claims and the provision of advice regarding insolvency related matters, including security enforcements, multi-party creditor disputes, receiverships, bankruptcies, restructuring, work outs and asset recovery. 

 

Kevin has represented both contractors and owners in a variety of construction disputes including claims for extras, claims arising from alleged design changes, claims under performance bonds, labour and material payment bonds and lien bonds, claims arising from delay, and claims for negligence against consulting engineers.

 

Kevin is a member of The Law Society of Prince Edward Island and the Canadian Bar Association.  He is Chair of the Civil Litigation Section of the Prince Edward Island Branch of the Canadian Bar Association, a past member of the Rules Committee of the Supreme Court of Prince Edward Island and has served on various law society committees. 

 

Kevin has been active at all levels in many non-profit and community based organizations.  He is a Past Chair of the Board of Directors of The Canadian Institute for the Blind (Prince Edward Island Division); Past President of Queens County Residential Services Inc.; and formerly an executive member of and coach in the Pownal Minor Hockey Association. 

 

Kevin was previously appointed by the federal government and served as a member of the Payment in Lieu of Taxes Dispute Advisory Panel.  Prior to the last federal election, Kevin was a member of the Liberal Party of Canada’s National Election Readiness Committee and served as Chair of federal election campaign in Prince Edward Island for the Liberal Party of Canada.
