Katie is an associate in our Halifax office, with a practice focused on intellectual property, entertainment, corporate, and privacy law. Katie offers a range of services with respect to creation, acquisition, transfer, and protection of intellectual property rights for her clients, in particular those in the technology, fashion, and entertainment-related industries. Katie’s dedication to staying current in these fast-paced industries allows her to provide her talented and creative clients with knowledgeable and practical solutions to their complex challenges. Recently, Katie honed her existing skills and completed a Copyright Master Class with the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada at McGill University. Katie is also a member of the Start-Up Team at McInnes Cooper, which provides services tailored to the unique needs of entrepreneurs and early and growth stage companies.
Katie is a graduate from the Juris Doctor program at the University of New Brunswick. During her time at UNB, Katie was actively involved in the faculty and in the community. She held leadership roles and was involved with various groups, including Student Council, Social Committee, Curriculum Committee, and the Diversity & Inclusion Committee, and participated in the UNB Mock NHL Salary Arbitration. She was also an active volunteer with the UNB Student Accessibility Centre.
Katie is currently a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Law Society of New Brunswick, and anticipates joining the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society in October 2018. In her spare time, Katie plays several instruments, and enjoys running, yoga, snowboarding, and photography.
