Profile

Henry is a Partner in the Tax Group of McInnes Cooper in Halifax. He practices in the area of tax law with an emphasis on personal, corporate and estate tax planning, as well as commodity taxation (GST/HST and provincial sales tax), including such matters as estate freezes, crystallizations, succession planning, creditor-proofing, corporate structuring and restructuring, inbound and outbound investments and unlimited liability companies. Henry also has expertise in drafting income and sales tax legislation.

 

Henry has written and presented for the Canadian Bar Association (Nova Scotia), the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Prince Edward Island, the Atlantic Provinces Tax Seminar, the CICA Commodity Tax Symposium, STEP Atlantic, and McInnes Cooper’s annual tax tour. He has also written for the Federated Press Resource Sector Taxation Journal and Carswell’s Tax Hyperion, and is a frequent contributor of articles for McInnes Cooper’s Tax Brief and Tax Flash publications. Henry is a member of a number of professional associations, including the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia, the Canadian Bar Association, the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society, the Law Society of Prince Edward Island, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, and the Halifax Estate Planning Council. He was admitted to the Nova Scotia Bar in 1995 and the Prince Edward Island Bar in 1998.
