Profile

Harvey is a Partner in our Halifax office and a member of our Business Dispute Resolution Group. Harvey’s litigation practice concentrates on aboriginal and construction law cases, as well as complex commercial law cases and toxic torts. He has presented cases before all levels of court in Nova Scotia and the Supreme Court of Canada. Harvey has an AV rating with Martindale-Hubbell. Notable cases he served on include Palmer v. Nova Scotia Forest Industries (herbicide spraying), Sprayers of Dioxin Association v. NB Power (herbicide spraying), Mitsui v. Jones Power (construction claim) and R v. Marshall (aboriginal logging), R v. Sappier (aboriginal logging). He has also negotiated large construction and wind turbine supply contracts.

 

Harvey has published a number of articles on issues of conflict of laws and evidence in publications such as International Maritime Law and Professional Liability and Discipline. Harvey is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society. He is an International Associate of the American Bar Association. He is on the Board of Directors of the Mission to Seafarers, a Warden at St. Peter’s Anglican Church and a member of the Halifax Advisory Board of the Salvation Army.
