Profile

Bernie Miller is the Managing Partner of McInnes Cooper and works out of the Moncton Office. Bernie has called McInnes Cooper home since he was first called to the Nova Scotia bar in 1989.

 

Bernie practices business law with a focus on energy, natural resources and real estate. He was instrumental in developing the firm’s environmental law practice. Bernie represents oil companies on liability issues associated with former service stations and bulk fuel sites. He has worked with pulp and paper companies on environmental law compliance with the Fisheries Act and effluent regulations. Bernie negotiates with governments, First Nations and ENGOs on environmental matters. He provides environmental assessment counsel to projects requiring federal or provincial assessment approvals for oil refineries, LNG projects, power plants, petrochemical complexes, manufacturing facilities, highways, pipelines and wind power projects. He has also been lead counsel on real estate matters for several retailers. Bernie is recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada 2010 for his practice in Environmental and Natural Resources law.

 

Bernie is a member of the Canadian Centre for Environmental Arbitration and Mediations, as well as the CBA and the New Brunswick Law Society. He is currently a Governor of the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council and he sits on the regional board of the Nature Conservancy of Canada.
