Profile

Tony is a Partner in our Halifax office who practices commercial transactions and bankruptcy and insolvency law. He has extensive experience in the acquisition, sale and financing of real and personal property on behalf of secured lenders and borrowers, including negotiations of commitment letters, loan agreements, and security documentation. A significant portion of his practice is in commercial bankruptcy and insolvency, acting for both lenders and debtors in the enforcement of security, work-outs and proposals, bankruptcies and receiverships. He is Atlantic regional counsel to national corporations and general counsel to financial institutions. Tony has been recognized every year since 2006 in Best Lawyers in Canada in the category of Insolvency and Financial Restructuring.

 

Tony is a member of the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society. He is a former Director of the Atlantic Canada Chinese Business Council and officer of the Nova Scotia Chinese Society. He also frequently lectures on insolvency matters at national and regional conferences. Tony has practiced karate for 40 years and is a current Director of International Shotokan Karate Federation of Canada and the Chief Instructor for Nova Scotia and the Dalhousie Karate Club. He has provided counsel to other various charitable and benevolent organizations.
